You just loosen the coil/whip assembly a turn and the ball allows the antenna to be laid over. This is a great feature for low clearance situations. The upper assembly can even be easily removed for those occasional trips through the car wash. You can mount it on the roof, trunk, top of fender or on side of a vehicle with up to 70 degrees of tilt from vertical. If surface mounting, a 7/16" (11mm) hole is required. May also be mounted on any Firestik mount with the standard 1/2" hole. Includes 15ft (4.6m) coaxial cable lead that is terminated with a standard PL-259 for instant connection to your CB radio. The original version utilized a split-ball assembly between the antenna coil and the mounting base. The newer version has a lower profile and instead of loosening a wingnut or keylock thru-bolt, the coil is turned counter-clockwise to loosen the tension against the base which allows the antenna to move from the vertical plane to the horizontal plane.
